George Soros: Secretly Generous for a Reason
A lot of people love boasting about their charitable contributions. Particularly these days, people like using charity as a public relations boost. People who do that belittle the act of giving to those less fortunate. In a way, it can be looked at as at least they’re giving.
The downside to settling for any kind of help means that truly passionate people feel less inclined to donate their time or money. It would take a great act of kindness to inspire the world to believe in charity again. That’s where someone like George Soros can help.
George Soros is a billionaire hedge fund manager who turned philanthropist more than 30 years ago. He created the Open Society Foundations as a way to give back to humanity. He grew up in troubled times and understands why it’s important to help those in need. His organization’s become of the largest philanthropic organizations in the world because of his monetary donations.
Over the past 30 years, Soros has donated between $800 and $900 million a year to Open Society. When an official statement was released, NY Times was one of the first to pick up the story. All-in-all, George Soros has donated $18 billion to his foundation.
His organization’s put a lot of that money to good use. Open Society operates in more than 120 countries and has helped millions of struggling communities. Open Society doesn’t have a single cause; it helps out wherever it can.
Lately, a lot of Open Society’s efforts have been in the United States. After Donald Trump’s presidential victory, America was drowned in hate incidents. Everyone who wasn’t a white Christian was under siege. Nearly every human and civil rights had to take action to protect themselves and their neighbors. Open Society’s been helping as many of these groups as possible.
According to JPost, Soros’s political ties have made him the target of some brutal attacks. A lot of right-wing conspiracy theorists claim that Soros is quickly destroying their country. What Soros is actually doing is supporting human rights and gender equality.
Mr. Soros refers to their acts as the demonization of philanthropy. They take whatever he does and make it seem like a horrible act against America. They genuinely hate the fact that he supported the NFL protests and the Women’s March.
